Bilingual Bug Hike at Otay Lakes County Park
Join us for a bilingual (English/Spanish) bug hike at the Otay Lakes County Park hiking trail! Become an entomologist and use tools like magnifying glasses and bug boxes to look closer into the incredible world of butterflies, beetles, and more! During our hike, we will learn about the importance of native insects, see the Otay Lakes Reservoir from various viewpoints, and explore the park’s native plant garden.

Meeting Location: We will meet in front of the Ranger Station at Otay Lakes County Park, 2270 Wueste Road, Chula Vista, CA 91915. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo!
Driving Directions: Take 805 South to the Olympic Parkway exit. Head east on Olympic Parkway and continue for approximately 6.8 miles. Turn right onto Wueste Road and continue for approximately 2.2 miles to Otay Lakes County Park.
Suggested Parking: Parking is available within the county park. You will need to purchase a parking permit for $3 at the machine as you enter and park in the upper parking lot. Additional parking is available on the street at no cost, as well as at the Otay Lakes Boating Ramp. If you park on the street or by the boating dock, you must walk the rest of the way to join the group.
Restrooms and Water: Restrooms are located near the Ranger Station in the park’s center.
The trailhead is straight ahead of the restrooms.
Hike Length: This location has about a 2-mile hike.
Program Supplies: Water, sunscreen/hat, bug repellent, and walking shoes with proper support.
Hiking Level: Moderate
No pets will be allowed on the hike.
